Extend Roof Tile Overhang

This cost did not include any labor or waste disposal fees. Two feet is the general maximum length for a typical roof overhang. Choose a roof pitch 3 12 and roof structure 2x6 this places the new roof on top of the existing roof. Having overhang prevents the water from making contact with the structural areas of the roof.

Too little can allow water to seep into rake or fascia boards. The more water you keep from the structural components of the roof or fascia the longer these parts will last. Too much overhang and the shingles could blow off in high winds. To tie the design together peter chose to cut the rafter tails off the extend the exterior wall up to the underside of the new roof. A good estimate for a contractor to do this same roof overhang extension would range from 50 to 85 per running foot.

A typical metal roof overhang may be 2 to 4 inches or even less. The next question is what to do with the existing eave under the new roof. The overhang of roof shingles is the amount of the shingle that extends past the lower edge of the roof creating a lip. Metal is usually installed on rafters or strip sheathing rather than the solid decking used under other materials.
